Biography

Mr. Steven Wayne Hardin, age 58, of Mooresville, formerly of Ashe County, died Friday evening, January 29, 2010 at Lake Norman Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rex Eldreth officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardin Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Wednesday, two hours prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Hardin was born in Ashe County on Friday, February 16, 1951 to William H. and Vivian Greer Hardin. He was a Store Manager of Lowe's Hardware.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Osborne Hardin, of Mooresville; a son, Christopher Steven Hardin, of Mooresville; a daughter, Lindsy Paige Hardin, of Mooresville; his father and mother, William "Bill" Hardin and Vivian Greer Hardin, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Barbara Hardin Miller and husband, Clarence "Eddie", of Jefferson and Robin Renee Hardin Osborne and husband, Robert, of West Jefferson; two nieces, Kimberly Osborne of West Jefferson and Elizabeth Miller of West Jefferson; a nephew, James Miller of Wilkesboro also survive.

We are deeply saddening by the lose of a good friend. Steve and his family are dear friends of ours. Distance has kept us apart, but our friendship is a lasting one. Our love goes out to Marsha, Chris, and Lindsy. I first see Steve's great sense of humor, his Southern gentlemen's charm, and just a good ole boy. We have had many great times with the Hardins that we will cherish and we will continue to be there for you Marsha, Chris and Lindsy in the days ahead. Steve as my cousin and best friend. We went to school together, played together, laughed together, and cried together. We supported each other in victories and defeats and were there for each other through our parents' illnesses and he was there for me with open arms and support when my parents passed away. We have shared our children's achievements and failures as well as our own. I will miss his smiling face, laughter, wit, and charm. He once told me "My riches are not on Earth, My riches are in Heaven!" Therefore, I am assured that when my heart is so broken from his absence that it is for myself and my loss of his presence that I grieve. I will miss him so much!!!

Although it has been a few years since we have talked, I want you to know how special Steve and Marsha were to me as SS teacher at PBC.
