Funeral Service: Sunday, February 21, 2010 3:00 PM Boone Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Jefferson, NC Visitation: Sunday, February 21, 2010 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Jefferson, NC Interment: Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Jefferson, NC  BiographyMrs. Dorthea Beatrice "Maw" Lawrence Miller, age 85, of Todd, passed away Thursday morning, February 18, 2010 at Watauga Medical Center.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.D. Walton officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm on Sunday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Miller was born in Ashe County on Sunday, January 25, 1925 to the late Bradley and Ella Mae Rash Lawrence. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be greatly missed. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carter Ward Miller. Mrs. Miller is survived by two daughters, Terri Miller and husband, Allen, of West Jefferson and Kathy Hampton and husband Dee, of West Jefferson; two brothers, Kermit Lawrence and wife, Ruth, of West Jefferson and Hugh Lawrence and wife, Beverly, of Lenoir; three sisters, Opal Roark and husband, Gene, of Creston, Mary Jo Moses, of Lenoir and Lynda Woodard and husband, Ernie, of Todd; three grandchildren, Jonathan Shaw and wife, Christy, Pamela Ball and husband, David and Travis Cornett; seven great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren, Donnie Hampton and wife, Kim, Dustin Miller and wife, Crystal and Jessica Miller; five step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. |
