Funeral Service: Saturday, August 21, 2010 2:00 PM Boone Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Jefferson, NC Visitation: Saturday, August 21, 2010 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel, West Jefferson, NC Interment: Walters Cemetery, West Jefferson, NC BiographyMr. Edward Hews Roten, age 80, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 18, 2010 at Margate Health & Rehab Center.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Elder John Jackson, Elder Bobby Absher and Rev. Steve LeaShomb officiating. Burial will follow in the Walters Family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Roten was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, November 12, 1929 to the late George Dewey and Flossie Arnold Roten. He was owner and operator of Roten & Roten Electric. He was a member of North Fork Primitive Baptist church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Colleen Walters Roten on December 22, 2009. He is survived by a daughter, Joy Osborne and husband, Mike, of West Jefferson; three brothers, George Roten of West Jefferson, Dane Roten and Ray Roten, both of Raleigh; a sister, Mary Bare of West Jefferson; two grandchildren Micah Mazurek and Adriane Osborne; two great-grandchildren Ben Mazurek and Katie Mazurek; several nieces and nephews also survive.
