Graveside Service: Thursday, September 02, 2010 11:00 AM Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Crumpler, NC Visitation: Wednesday, September 01, 2010 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Jefferson, NC Interment: Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Crumpler, NC BiographyMr. Luther Thomas Baldwin, better known as "Tom" age 79, of Fleetwood passed away Sunday night, August 29, 2010 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00am at Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. Rev. Jack Miller will officiate the services. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Baldwin was born in Ashe County on Thursday, March 12, 1931 to the late Will Eugene and Viola Blanche Marsh Baldwin. He served in the United States Army during Korean Conflict. He was a Teacher and the Principal of Fleetwood Elementary School, before retiring from the educational school system. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Nell Blevins Baldwin; a son, William Clinton Baldwin; two daughters, Mary Powell, of Wilkesboro and Tommy Jo Baldwin, of Creston; a brother, John D. Baldwin, and wife, Shirley, of Fleetwood; six sisters Clyde Miller, of Fleetwood, Bertha Richards, of New York State, Gertrude Lucas, of Baltimore, MD, Jean Cullison and husband, Ron, of Lancaster, PA; Mable Poling and husband, Harold, of Baltimore, MD and Wanda Pugh, of Abingdon, VA; a grandson, Clinton Thomas Baldwin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
