William Doyal Denny

Mr. William Doyal Denny, better known as "Doyal" age 85, of Lansing passed away Thursday night, February 22, 2018 at his residence.


Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2:00pm at Tuckerdale Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Field Shepherd Cemetery with military rites.


The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 1:00-2:00pm; one hour prior to the funeral service.


Mr. Denny was born in Ashe County on July 6, 1932 to the late Dolphus and Ruby Greer Denny. He served in the United States Army. He retired from construction; where he worked for T.W. Howell Construction. He served as Ashe County Commissioner for the Republican Party. Doyal was a member of Tuckerdale Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and sharing it with family and friends. But most of all he loved his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all.


He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Denny and Charlie Denny; two sisters, Dot Shupe and Clara Hart.


Mr. Denny is survived by his wife, Jean Asbury Denny; a son, Frank Edward Denny and wife, Theresa, of Lansing; a daughter, Helen Ann Bachtell and husband, John, of Lansing; three brothers, Gary Denny, of South Carolina, Jim Denny, of Tennessee and Larry Denny, of Lansing; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
