Mr. Odell Winfred Little, age 85, of Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Carolinas Continue Care Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:30AM at Nathans Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Church officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30AM-11:30 on Saturday, one hour prior to the memorial service.
Mr. Little was born in Ashe County on September 12, 1931 to the late Howard and Cloie Absher Little. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. Odell worked as General Operations Manager with National Parks Concessions that was based out of Mammoth Cave Kentucky. He restored Mabry Mill that is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Meadows of Dan, Virginia. He also constructed a restaurant that served products from the mill that was a favorite place for many to come and eat, shop for handmade crafts and tour the mill and scenic trail. For 44 years, Odell and his wife, Wanda also operated Rocky Knob Cabins along the Virginia Parkway. They made lifelong friends while living in Virginia. He always loved to travel and never lost interest in what was going on in the local and world news.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wanda McNeill Little on November 13, 2011; a sister, Dallas Little Guthrie, of Pennsville, NJ; a brother, Clifton Little, of Crumpler.
Mr. Little is survived by two daughters , Alyson Little Church and husband, Jim, of Concord, NC and Melanie Little Johnson and husband, Michael, of Dillsboro, NC; a brother-in-law, Donald Guthrie, of Pennsville, NJ; a sister-in-law, Mariam Williams Little, of Crumpler; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his beloved and faithful dog, Sara Sara also survive.
