Obituary of Jacqueline Fisher

Beloved mother, Jacqueline (Jackie) Bennett Fisher, of Lansing, passed away peacefully at Novant Health Huntersville on Sunday, January 13th surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Jackie was born on 8-12-31 in Ashe County to Noah and Odell Bennett. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lindy Fisher; a longtime companion, Rector Haire; a son, Gary Fisher; two brothers, Charles Bennett and Jim Bennett. She is survived by children: Jerry (Janette) Fisher of Laurel Springs; Pat Fisher Morgan of West Jefferson; Donna (Rich) Fisher Fayko of Davidson; Brenda Fisher of Lansing; and Michelle (Alan) Fisher Hanson of West Jefferson; by siblings: Bob (Judy) Bennett of Swansboro; John (Jeri) Bennett of Little River, SC; Judy (Larry) Neaves of Jefferson; Mary (Jay) Trivette of West Jefferson; Margaret (Glen) Mast, Rick (Linda) Bennett , and Becky Richardson, all of Lansing; and Michael (Diane) Bennett of Hudson. Her grandchildren, Angie (Eric) Burgess, Tiffany Gambill, Misty Phillips, Alexandra and Ashlyn Fayko and Elynn Hanson were well loved by their grandmother, as were her great grands, Dalton Blankenship, Noah Gambill, Courtney Greene, and Sterling Phillips. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jackie lived life to the fullest, travelling and delighting in her family, after retiring from Ingles' Market in West Jefferson where she made lifelong friendships. Jackie was full of mischief and never met a stranger. Her kindness and compassion for others, especially children, was her hallmark. Jackie was known for welcoming others to her home for dinner and holidays. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, doing puzzles and sharing stories about her family. Her fresh apple cake will be missed at the Bennett reunions. She was a true country girl at heart with a fondness for nature and animals. She loved the mountains of Ashe County and spent many hours walking them, picking berries and enjoying their natural beauty.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 18th at 8 PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Shepherd officiating. Visitation with family will occur from 6-8 PM on Friday prior to the service.
